Welcome to Miss Yusko's

Dear Parents,

Happy Spring!  It’s hard to believe we have only one quarter remaining this school year.  It seems that each year goes by faster and faster!

Graded papers went home yesterday, so please be sure to look for those.

Report cards will be coming home today.  You will also be receiving permission forms for an upcoming field trip we are taking on April 6th.  We will be attending the Cathedral of St. Raymond in Joliet for their Cathedral Days.  This is only offered to 5th graders in the Diocese of Joliet, and it’s an amazing experience for the kids, as they learn about the history of the cathedral and are able to tour it as well.  Please send back the permission form and money as soon as possible!  Thanks!

We have begun our Adopt-A-Pilot program through Southwest Airlines.  This is a program we have been blessed to be a part of for many years!  Captain Carol Skiber has been giving of her time to this program for all those years, and we are thrilled to have her here again.  She is from this area, and she has a lot of neat things she teaches and does with the kids.  This program is always a hit!

Today your children received the sacrament of Reconciliation.  We are right in the middle of the season of Lent, and I encourage families to “do more” during this Holy Season – attend a weekday Mass when you can, pray the Rosary together, plan to go to the Holy Thursday Mass or Easter Vigil Mass, or even think about going to the Stations of the Cross.  There are so many ways we can prepare for the great Feast of Easter!

This week there will be a Social Studies Test on Thursday, Spelling/Vocabulary Test on Friday, and a Reading Test on Friday (This may be open book, but I haven’t decided yet! J).

Friday is our Honor’s Assembly at 1:30 in the Church. If you can be there, your children love having you.

Please note that there has been a change in our Talent Show.  It was originally planned for Thursday, April 13th in the morning, but because of this being Holy Thursday, we have been asked to move it.  The new date will be Wednesday, April 12th in the afternoon.  Please look for information coming home.

I hope you (your kids, especially, as I know many parents still have to work) have a wonderful Spring Break! Rest, relax, and come back ready to give a strong finish to the school year!

God bless each of you!
