NOTES FROM MRS. KOZAR September 14

 

We are definitely in the swing of things! The students are doing amazing with me picking up the speed with my expectations. I want to say thank you to Mrs. Gorecki and Mrs. Zielinski for their success in the classroom. The Second Graders will be doing Iowa testing next week. This test assesses listening, Math and Reading. Please send an extra snack for a break that they will be given to refocus after the testing. The testing will be every day. Please make sure that they go to bed early as well.


Subjects

Math: We have started subtraction. As I look ahead, I am expecting to have our first math test next week. Please check planner for specific date.

Phonics: We had our first phonics test this week. This test was much guided. I will start the independent test on our next unit. Unit 2 is going over short vowels.

Reading: Our weekly story, A Walk in the Desert is covering main idea. Please make sure that you practice sight words daily.

Writing: We are starting to write our first paragraph. It will be about observations in the desert. We are working on punctuation, uppercase letters as well as topic sentence and wrap up sentence. 

Science:  We have finally started Science! We are talking living and nonliving things. Specifically plants. Looking ahead I will be giving a Science test with next week. Please check planner for specific date.
